Moscow International Automobile Salon / ÌIAS 2010 and the 6th International Automotive exhibition InterAuto
The main event for numerous motor-car fans and automotive segment professionals – the Moscow International Automobile Salon/MIAS 2010 successfully took place August 27 through September 5, 2010 in the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre.
The organizers of MIAS’2010 were traditionally the Association of Russian Carmakers NP and the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. The event was supported by the Automobile Manufacturers Committee (AMC) of the Association of European Businesses (AEB), the Ministry for Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Ministry for Transport of the Russian Federation and the Ministry for Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
In 2010 the Moscow Automobile Salon has traditionally gathered together in the third pavilion world, Russian and European debuts in the segment of passenger car manufacture, leading automobile brands and novelties from national car industry. The overall exhibit area comprising eight football grounds hosted 80 exhibitors whichpresented more than 600 cars at the show. Representatives from 12 countries (Great Britain, Germany, Iran, Italy, China, Korea, Russia, the USA, Ukraine, France, Czech Republic and Japan) participated in MIAS 2010.
The list of exhibitors impressed even the most sophisticated car fans. The largest global car manufactures were accommodated in the third pavilion Crocus Expo IEC: Audi, Bently, BMW, BYD, Cadillac, Chery, Citroen, Chevrolet, Ñhrysler, FIAT, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Great Wall, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jaguar, KIA, Land Rover, Lexus, Mercury, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Skoda, Ssang Young, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo, VAZ, GAZ, UAZ and TAGAZ. The leading car manufacturers unveiled to the public 8 world, 7 European, 62 Russian debuts and 20 concept cars.
Alongside with unforgettable presentations of new vehicles the exhibitors had prepared for their guests a number of pleasant and unexpected surprises.
Demonstration of Canary-yellow Lada Kalina Sport 1,6, which Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, drove along the soon-to-be completed Amur highway connecting the country’s East and West, was one of the most unexpected pleasant surprises. The “yellow swallow” became the most attractive exhibit at AvtoVAZ stand.
Renault «treated» the Moscow public to a unique vehicle which had been delivered from France especially for MIAS 2010. Thousands of visitors had an opportunity to see the “battle” Formula 1 racer piloted by Vitaly Petrov,the Russian racing driver. Moreover the famous Russian pilot visited the Autosalon in person in order to communicate with the fans and appreciate debuts from the best global brands.
Audi invited Andrey Malakhovand Timatito the presentation of their latest automotive debuts – Audi RS5 and Audi R8 convertible. The stars confessed that they had been looking forward to the “new arrival” from the celebrated German autoconcern alongside with millions of fans.
Players of the metropolitan football team CSKA defender Kirill Nababkin and forward Seydou Doumbia visited the Moscow Automobile Salon 2010. Together with Hyundai company they presented to the visitors debuts from the famous car maker and held autograph session.
Representatives of State Duma of the Russian Federation, ambassadors of foreign states and higher echelon from ministers and departments of Moscow and the Moscow region were honourable guests of the Autosalon 2010. Sergey Shmatko, the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Evgeny Panteleev, the Minister of Science and Industry of the Government of Moscow, Vladimir Malyshkov, the Head of Consumer Market and Services Department of Moscow, Jean de Gliniasti, the Ambassador of France, and Ulrich Brandenburg, the Ambassador of Germany, have also appreciated the automotive novelties. These official visits have once again underlined the high economic and political status of the exhibition.
Yves van der Straaten, Director General of the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles / OICA, addressed the organizers of the Moscow International Automobile Salon an official letter where he expressed his appreciation of the event: «With this message, I also would like to extend my warmest thanks to all of you for the excellent hospitality extended to Mrs Massenet (Chairman of the Exhibition Committee of the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles /OICA) and myself during our brief stay in Moscow at the occasion of the official opening of MIAS 2010. Your kindness made it an unforgettable experience for us. We also fully appreciated the very high quality of the show which clearly has become a very important one in today's automobile world at the international level».
The organizers of MIAS 2010 took care about informative program for the youngest car enthusiasts. Children’s AutoCity had been conveniently accommodated in one of the third pavilion halls. The “founders” of the site are Bezopasny Mir (Safe World) International centre and Traffic Safety Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Russian Federation. Victor Kirianov, Chief State Traffic Safety Inspector, participated in the opening ceremony. A number of entertaining events were held at the site: photo galleries, charitable events and contests. Particularly junior drivers had an opportunity to drive electric vehicles on a specially arranged track simulating a traffic road facilitated with traffic lights, traffic signs, pedestrian crossings and even a traffic police station. More than 4000 kids of different ages attended the Children’s AutoCity.
August 27was declared Moscow Autosalon Design Day.A presentation with participation of Mark Lloyd, Chief Designer of Citroën's International Projects, head of designers team working at DS3 line, and demonstration of a graphic design performance was held within the frames of Design Day at Citro¸n stand.
More than 10 conferences, seminars and round table talks covering the most urgent issues in the automobile industry were held within the frames of the calendar of events.
More than 1 million visitors came to the Moscow International Automobile Salon!
About 2100journalists, representing 250 printed mass media, 60 TV companies, 15 radio stations, about 200 Internet portals and 30 informational agencies provided press coverage of the Autosalon. In addition 150 foreign mass media representatives reported about the event.
Worldwide car enthusiasts got an opportunity to follow daily the Moscow spectacular presentation of vehicles: MIAS 2010 became “hot news” of about 120 reports and live broadcasting organized by TV channels and radio stations, numerous on-line running coverage at automotive Internet portals.
